How To Please God

How To Please God

A lot of people make the mistake of thinking that God requires perfection from us. They may not say it, but deep inside, they think it. This engraved idea makes them lose hope in ever being of God... they try and try, and since they can never succeed to that top unreachable post, they give up on themselves, and consequently in God.

But I tell you, God is not like us. We, complicated beings, expect perfection from each other and no matter how often we’re proven wrong, we keep on expecting, therefore disappointed, therefore isolated from people with that old saying ‘I prefer to be on my own than to trust people ever again’... well... I’m sorry to say this but let’s face it, no one can trust you either!

Human beings cannot be trusted so the best you can do about that is to accept them as they are. God, who’s perfect, does that -- why can’t we, imperfect beings?

God never complicates things; He’s very easily pleased.

But this doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t strive to please God at all, in fact, some Christians think that they please God just by doing the bare minimum... going to church once a week, doing the right thing most of the times, and confessing their belief in Him. God is not complicated but He’s not just anybody either... He doesn’t settle with that kind of faith. For Him, it’s better that you don’t believe in Him than to have lukewarm faith.

God is Spirit and the only way to communicate with Him is by faith. You can’t really have a relationship with God based on a good feeling you have on Sunday mornings or on tears you shed every time you hear about the crucifixion. Faith is not a feeling and it’s not necessarily going to church, reading the Bible, or praying (and asking for prayers).

If you want to please God, the first thing you need to work on is your faith.

Faith is to believe in something you still cannot see.

Faith is to believe that God is right there next to you, seeing your every move, hearing your every breath.

Faith is to turn to God instead of turning to others when you’re feeling down or in need of a shoulder to cry.

Faith is to persevere doing the right thing even when it gets you in trouble with others.

Faith is to be different and go against everything this world is for.

Faith is to stay away from evil and shut the door whenever it presents itself on your doorstep.

Faith is to focus on what God promised, no matter the circumstances around you.

This is the first step to pleasing God: use your faith - not only in church, but mostly outside.

Faith is good for us. Don’t complicate it, just do it.
